I have asked this before.........I need some clarification. I am almost 5 months post-op from a TVH and TVT sling. By the mid-end of the day I have swelling on the outside of my vagina. It is not coming from inside the vagina, it is the area that surrounds the inner vaginal lips. Hopefully this makes sense. Both my Dr. and PT don't see it as any kind of collapse or prolapse. I just can't figure out what it is. By the end of the day it feels like I have a couple of tampons in. Eventhough it is around the outside. I hope this makes sense. I don't know if it any kind of vaginal prolapse. Thanks
Is it possible that it is something similar to swelly belly that can hit late in the day. Swelling is a normal thing that happens with tissue that is still healing, and if you had repairs, perhaps it's the same kind of thing. My vulva area would sometimes seem a bit swollen after I'd had an active day, and I just figured it was the same as swelly belly but with the effects of gravity thrown in. I found that lying down for a while when I got home every day helped my comfort level.
I also had this. Mine also included the entire genital area. It was HUGE, and scared me to death cause it looked awful. But the swelling went down and like you at the end of the day seemed to be when the swelling was worse, like swelly belly. It is much better now and doesn't happen as often. I think mine was the entire area because I had lymph nodes removed. But like I said, it is much much better now.
Thanks to fritzi 64 and lalwaysworry for responding to me so quickly.........so you ladies had it as late as 5 months.....that is the part that is freaking me out. Just hearing you had this too makes me feel a whole lot better...Did yours also feel bulgie??thanks
My swelly belly lasted for about nine or ten month, although it had tapered off a lot toward the end. I don't recall the vulvar swelling lasting quite that long, but I do remember one day at about seven months post-op when it was present when I had been on my feet all day.
