Re: Night sweats and hot flashes?

I am having hot flashes during the day and nite sweats...I've been looking up to see how to alleviate them naturally. Soy, Black Cohosh, fruits, veggies..The list of things to give up is everything I love, pop, coffee, wine, spicey food. Also found that vitamin E and B are helpful. has anyone tried these things? I go back to my doc in July for my annual-he is totally agains herbal remedies and doesn't like to do hrt which I don't want. I would like to try the black cohosh but then I would have to tell him that I am. I seem to be in the minority here I had LAVH everything removed in December. I feel great except for the occasional gas and the sweats.

Re: Night sweats and hot flashes?

I love drinking sodas and eating spicy foods too but it seems like since my surgery I have cut down on both of them.

My endocrinologist suggested I try natural hormone replacement and both she and my ob/gyn don't believe in using HRT.

I tried Baby Aspirin per my endocrinologist suggestion and it did not work.
I purchased a package of women's soy menopause tablets and they would be the next one I am going to try; but I have to take them at night due to my thyroid medication.

I would have tried Black Cohosh but I read on WebMD that
If you have liver issues you should not take it; so I can't.

I am hoping the night sweats and hot flashes go away on their own. I am not having them as often as several weeks ago.

Re: Night sweats and hot flashes?

Hot flashes can be caused by hormones after surgery till hormones right themselves. A few years ago I had breast surgery, and it caused me to have hot flashes for a few months. I propped the front door open in the middle of the winter and stood on the porch. My husband came in the room, looked at our kids and demanded, "Who in the world left this door open in January?" My young daughter looked up at him and said, "Daaaad, its Mom. She's having a heat wave". That describes it pretty well.
