arm that had IV in feels different

7 weeks post-op and I am still wondering how I can get back into the full time work week. My biggest concern is my left arm that had the IV in when I was operated on. It feels different. Sometimes it feels like someone is squeezing it. I noticed yesterday that I was using my left arm more than my right just to see how it was feeling. When I sleep on my left side, it makes my arm feel even worse the next day. Has anyone had this happen to them? I cannot believe the length of recovery. Also, has anyone ever had hives during their recovery?

Re: arm that had IV in feels different

I have the same problem in the same arm. My doc said the soreness was from bruising of the vein due to the IV and a possible small blood clot. He said to just take ibuprofen. I am 5 weeks post op and still have arm pain.

Tht's spooky, ladies! I worry abt blood clots. Have you tried a heating pad? I wonder if that would give you some relief? Poor things! I hurt in all the lower places but upper body was good!! Feel better soon.
