How long for patch to work?

How long does it take the patch to get into my system and begin working? I am just now beginning my journey with HRT and am in the trial to find the right dosage mode. My first patch....075 was put on yesterday. I slept very little last night because of all the hot flashes and today I am very "blue". Help!

Re: How long for patch to work?

Wow -

I woke up in recovery with the patch (Climara .1) and never had any hot flashes, night sweats etc. Maybe they have you on the wrong patch. I am 43 and had a TAH/BSO on Jan 25, 2010.
I love the patch and have not had any menopausal symptoms while using it.

Re: How long for patch to work?

I didn't start the patch for over 10 weeks and by then whatever estrogen I had stored in my system was long gone. At 8 weeks on the patch I was much better but needed an increase to .075 and then around the 7 month mark I was increased to the .1. My point is that it took a while to see improvement and it can take some time to find the correct dose. I hope you start feeling better soon. The not sleeping is the worst - big hugs!!!

Re: How long for patch to work?

I just started the patch, too. I have seen some positive changes (better sleeping), but no changes in number/frequency/intensity of my hot flashes. My doctor has told me to wait at least one week, and preferably several weeks, before changing doses. I think it may take some time for the estrogen to build up in your system and for your body to adjust to the new hormone levels.

Good luck!
