Cystocele recurrence?

I had an LAVH and bladder sling 5 months ago , and recovery was normal. However, I think my cystocele is returning, which I just noticed over the weekend. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? I am going to book an appointment with the doctor to find out if this is what is happening (frustrating!!) Can this be fixed a second time?

Hi Zeph, I had a TVH and TVT with an anterior repair on Oct 9, 09. Unfortunately I now have had a reprolapse. My anterior was fixed with my own tissue which did not hold. I am beyond frustrated. I also have some other issues, so this has not been a positive thing for me. From what I have asked and read on this site, it can be fixed again. I don't know if you had any other mesh other than the sling. Don't panic until you find out for sure if that is your issue, hopefully not. How have you done otherwise? I developed an overactive bladder so I am on meds. for that. Do you have any urgency or frequency feelings? Take care. I have an appt on March 8 with my surgeon.

Thanks Little Red for the info. I don't know if I had any other mesh beyond the sling. I am going to call the surgeon tomorrow. He has been on vacation the past week. I had terrible frequency problems which the surgery at the end of September fixed, but I am afraid I will be back where I started now that the cystocele is coming back. I will try not to panic, but as you said it is beyond frustrating to have to deal with all this stuff again!
I hope your surgeon is able to help you. It is awful having bladder problems and other issues..

Hi again. My gut tells me the only mesh you have is the sling. Otherwise, if this is indeed another cystocele then other mesh prevents this. I guess you can say it is a stronger hold. I feel as though I rushed into things quickly without researching enough. This is the first major surgery I have ever had. From what I have read since, the abdominal hyster and repair has more success. Since my 3 LARGE babies were born vaginally I had a TVH. If I have anything else done, I will push for abdominal. You having the procedure done by Lap, has a good success rate, I think as well. Take care
