6 wk post op and released to resume life

Hi ladies:

I am six week post op this week and was told after a successfu 6 wk exam that I could resume all normal activities.

I am a little scared to resume my normal activities because I do not want to cause any set backs (discharge, bleeding etc) since I have not had any discharge etc the whole 6 wks. I guess I am a lucky one.

Does anyone who is past six weeks have any suggestions as to what is the best way to resume my life? I know everyone is different; I just need some guidance.

I would ease back into everything & see how your body reacts. Just because you hit a certain mark doesn't mean your all healed. There is still a lot going on inside. Your body will let you know the next day if you have done too much. I would still be very careful about lifting things that are too heavy. Just don't push yourself to hard. Go little by little. It worked for me taking it very slow. Best wishes to you.

Thanks Seabutterfly I really appreciate that. I guess my thing now is the fear of the unknown. In other words I don't know how my body will react but I guess I will take a little at a time.

I was extra careful so I would try one thing & then see how I felt the next day. It will get less scary as you go & you will see what you can do. Take care.

Re: 6 wk post op and released to resume life

Hey L,

I just got my release on Tuesday, and I asked my doc when I could start carrying my massage table around (about 40 pounds). She said just ease into every day activities. So what I've done is decided to schedule a couple of family members for massages next week at my house, and see how I feel from there. I have waged war on a few housekeeping things, but am exhausted today. Baby steps are the key. She had even cautioned extreme care on the intimacy issue for me and DH, so we are going to weight the full eight weeks.

I hope your return to life as you know it is a happy one! Congrats!
