I Am Home And So Relieved

To my dear Hyster Sisters:

I got home today about 2pm from the castle (surgery was Wed at 8am). I am still very sore and cannot sit long enough to detail my story tonight but maybe tomorrow. Did want those who are still on the pre-op side to know that mine is one of those stories that has NO negatives to it. The main thing I can tell you is to pay much attention to the advice you get here and from your doc and when you are done with the surgery get up and walk asap! I had very LITTLE gas problems and bowels worked first morning after surgery. I had no vomiting and only one bout with nausea. I was able to eat solid food the day after the surgery. I will go into details as soon as I can comfortably sit here. Wanted to put everyone's mind at ease who is waiting for this surgery, however, that it isn't nearly as bad as you expect it to be! Thanks also to all the sisters who provided me advice. I know for a fact it made my journey a much easier one!

I Am Home And So Relieved

Betty:

So glad you are home and feeling good. Just please remember to get lots of rest and drink lots of fluids.

Good for you that you didn't have the GAS issue and that your bowels worked right away. I know for some sisters that can be quite an uncomfortable issue!

Being on "the other side" myself now I can certainly relate to the waiting truely is the hardest part. It also gives our minds time to second guess us!! It's a very anxious time.

God Bless and a continued quick recovery to you! Just don't push it!!!!

Betty ~

Great to hear that you're home and that everything went well! Forgive me, but I'm not sure exactly what you had done? (sorry I'm still relatively new here & I'm still trying to keep up with who's who & who's having what done! lol ..)
The reason I'm asking is because you came home quickly didn't you? That's also great!! I'm not clear whether I'll be 2 or 3 or 4 nights "in the castle" .. I'd rather be home as fast as I can, but if 2 nights is the norm .. I'm thrilled!

Welcome home !!!

So happy to hear that things went so well for you! And you are being a very good princess, not sitting too long!!

Rest, drink lots of water and juice, take those little walks, and exercise only your remote-clicking finger!!

It's great to have you on the other side!

I Am Home And So Relieved

Thanks for all your good wishes.

To JudiL: I had a supracervical abdominal hysterectomy and at the last minute decided to have my ovaries removed as well. Normally with abdominal surgery the recovery can take longer than the vaginal but I am way better off at this point than I expected to be. My doc was originally going to keep me three days but when he saw how well I was doing he let me go in two. I was lucky enough that the procedure prior to mine was cancelled and I was able to go immediately into surgery without having to wait around the pre-surgery area. And I was coming out of the anesthesia so quickly and so well I did NOT even have to go to the recovey room. They administered oxygen to me for awhile and then sent me on to my room. The surgery took about an hour and 1/2. I am so relieved it is over!

Things will go well for you too!

Thanks Betty!! I'm glad your recovery is going well, and hope it continues to get even better!! I'm to be at the hospital at 6 a.m. on Monday morning, and surgery's scheduled for 7:45, so .. while I wish I didn't have to wait AT ALL, I guess it's not TOO long..

I Am Home And So Relieved

Betty,

So glad you are feeling so good. Just keep on resting and behaving. I was fortunate and came home after only 2 nights also, but it did not shorten my total recovery time. I had no complications, and basically felt fine except for gas pains and tiredness, but I am 5 1/2 weeks and I can tell I won't be at the end of Stage One til Week 6.]

So, just sit back and relax and don't expect more of yourself because you did so well initially. I thought I would "breeze right through" and be all done at 4 weeks --- Nope!! Just a little "word to the wise".

Again, glad you are doing so well. Keep it up!! Welcome Home!!
