Scared to death to lose my ovaries
Well its been two years since i've been on this site, but it was the first place I knew to go with my problems.
So, the last few months i've been having lots of pain in my lower abominal area and went in 6 weeks ago and was told I have a cysts on my right ovary that is 6 cm and follicles on my left...well I ended up in the hospital Friday due to the pain and found out I have 13 (small yet painful) cysts on my right ovary and 15 on the left. The pain is really unbearable!! Well they did tell me three of the cysts ruptured, (but there are still plenty more to go around) so I have an appointment with my GYN tomorrow.
My thought is this.... I really can't take this pain anymore and I think when I see my doctor tomorrow i'm going to request they be removed. My problem is, i'm already a homicidial maniac with my ovaries (my husband and childrens view of me), whats going to happen to me when I go into menopause?
I'm not able to take any kind of hormone so I will have to do it naturally and i'm freaking out..any advice or thoughts or ANY comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for listening..

Re: Scared to death to lose my ovaries
Well I'm scared too but I'm already menopausal so I know what ho flashes, etc, are like. I never had pain and am having mine out for non pain reasons so I don't know what I'd do in your place. Maybe listing positive things you would gain would help? But for me, I'd rather have hot flashes than pain. They weren't fun, but do-able. I don't want more but I know I could get through it. I hope your situation goes OK.

Wow Naxos, you are sooo encouraging and I truly appreciate it. I need to be like you and get healthy and then I probably won't be so nervouse. I don't exercise, I eat bad and then I wonder why i'm a hot mess! LOL
Your right though, I went in to see the Doc today and we went over the pros and cons and i'm just not sure yet... I know i can't stand this pain and the problem with my bowels and bladder are unbelievable! I went over my dads house today and he told me I walk like a little old lady, I wanted to tell him if he was in as much pain as me he would be walking the same way!
@ Greyown I appreciate your position and your probably right about the hot flashes verses the pain.. its just the mood swings that scare me the most... I have really, really bad PMS and i'm just afraid I will become some type of monster after the fact.

Re: Scared to death to lose my ovaries
I'm just speaking from my own experience which may be different from yours. Although I have had depression, and yrs ago had some bad PMS, I didn't notice emotional symptoms I could attribute to menopause. I did have hot flashes and waking up. If I just have a recurrence of what I've had, I'd be OK with that. But I know some do have more issues, and it can be different with surgiery as opposed to regular menopause. But I'm hoping we both have the easier type changes (if you call that easy) rather than the emotional. I know when some got super upset over hot flashes I was often able to breathe and try to relax thru them, and that helped. I'm trying to focus on and hope for the more bearable symptoms, since they are possible but those other fears do sneak in. My surgery is tomorrow so I'm trying to stay positive and remember how I coped before. Good luck with yours too, I don't downplay your feelings at all, hope I can be encouraging.
