How to tell if I need to increase my estradiol?

I haven't posted a message since February 2008. After my TAH/BSO 4 years ago, I started on HRT (1mg estradiol) and have been feeling great. But the last 2 1/2 weeks I have definitely not been myself. Here is a list of my symptoms:

brain fog
lack of energy
depressed
sad
anxious
irritable
kind of feel in "neutral" not good, not bad
things just don't excite me the way they did
everyone annoys me
I feel I want or need to change but really don't care to
generally just feel "wrong" and not myself

Many of these symptoms I felt following my surgery and actually before my surgery during PMS.

I've got a call into the DR. but you know how you feel when you have to wait to see someone to get some relief or an answer as to why you are feeling the way you are. So I thought I would post on here and see if I'm indeed not alone in this.

Has anyone experienced this and then increased or changed your HRT and felt better for it? I thought maybe it was the weather, change in time, etc. but things aren't getting better as quickly as I'd thought.

Thanks to all.

Re: How to tell if I need to increase my estradiol?

Yes!!!!! When my estrogen level isn't right nothing else feels quite right. For awhile, a few years back, I DID blame everything and everyone else. Your hormone needs can change over time. Maybe ask about checking levels of hormones and possibly thyroid. I experienced some of the same symptoms when sex hormones or thyroid is off. Also, if you're not sleeping well, the rose colored glasses turn a shade of murky brown!!

Yes! When estrogen level was not right, or thyroid level was not right. Could your dr test both to see what needs adjusting?

I can especially relate to the "everyone annoys me" and add to it - "don't even think about touching me - anywhere!!!"

Wow! You describe it perfectly. Let me know what you find out. I've been feeling that exact way for three months now. Have switched HRT to oral from patch and my dr. added an additional anti-depressant. Not feeling depressed, just irritated and ready for this to change. My next appointment isn't for three weeks. When is yours?

Re: How to tell if I need to increase my estradiol?

I had my appointment yesterday - had my thyroid level checked - they said it's normal. Now I have a call in to find out what the range is, and what is my number on that range.
