Has anyone read the Menopause Diet Book?

Hi Ladies,

I am would like to know if any of you have ever read/tried the menopause diet? I am trying to find some feed back before going to look for this book. Any input would be appreciated.

I looked the book up on Amazon .com and is some of the reviews I read, some of the women said they liked what she had to say, and the diet worked for them. I guess one of the things you do is eat five small meals a day instead on three regular meals. Some of the women said the diet was too hard to understand with the medical terms and the meals were to time consumming to make.

So, this is where you ladies come in. Have any of you read or tried to follow what she suggests? I appreciate any of your input on this book, as well as what you have found has worked for you when it comes to the weight gain.

Thanks and God Bless,

Mary

Mary I did go looking for the book about 4 months ago and can tell you that it is not in any of the large book stores ie: Barnes and Noble or Borders. They can order it for you but you would probably get it faster just ordering it yourself from Amazon. I never did get around to ordering it so I cant tell you if it worked or not. Sorry.

I ordered this book from Amazon, took a look and sent it back. There are lots of good looking recipies but lots of them call for soy or tofu. I do not enjoy either so I returned the book.

It depends on what you want from a book.

She does explain in detail what kind of evidence supports her recommendations. And her argument makes a lot of sense based on the women in menopause I know who have lost weight and kept it off--and on the evidence she provides.

More of the book explains the reasoning than provides recipes, though there are quite a few. I personally need to know WHY I'm following some rule so I appreciate the book's style but it's not for everyone.

But if what you want is a plan that's likely to be effective, I think we're all far more likely to have success following her than other plans. I summarized her plan in the pulldown menu at www.hormonejungle.com in the article on weight and menopause, so you can get a sneak preview.

Prevention magazine basically supports a lot of aspects of this approach in their description of what the continued research points to as the way to long term health.

I'm sure it's a great summary. However, I can't read it since the black font is barely visible on the leafy background. Oh well.

Eileen,
Yikes, that IS very hard to read. I've notified our board administrator. Thanks for pointing that out.
