Re: Can't wear underwear or pants without pain . . .help!
I'm 2 weeks w/ a TAH. My tummy skin feels like it's literally on fire, especially when garments or bedding brushes me. Went w/o undies for awhile. I wear granny panties to walk around in sometimes (with a nightie/long shirt on of course!) I honestly couldn't imagine having to return to work yet.... oh my!!
Take care of you....
hugs

Re: Can't wear underwear or pants without pain . . .help!
I feel for you! I had an LAVH the exact same day 3/18 and I am embarrassed to admit that I'm feeling great! I wore velour sweats home from the hospital and have been in either sleep pants or yoga pants ever since. My belly is a little tender but I haven't had any Percocet since the hosp.
I'm sorry to hear you have to go back so soon. My Dr. recommends up to 6 weeks off depending on how the patient feels.
Good luck to you!

I have to admit I'm surprised your doctor is only recommending 10 days off. I have never heard of that. I can understand needing to go back because of the semester beginning so I wish you the best of luck. I am 10 weeks out and my abdomen is still sore to the touch (TVH for me). Hope you can find something loose to wear.

Especially now that we don't have anything to worry about by not wearing any!

Happy to report I am back into my regular underwear--woo hoo! Now jeans or anything other than yoga pants and skirts . . . entirely different story! Thanks for all the advice.

Re: Can't wear underwear or pants without pain . . .help!
Way to go Elissamr! I too, was able to actually put on a pair of jeans for the first time yesterday. Eventhough they were the stretchy denim kind, it was WONDERFUL to finally get them on. But, after dinner I did have to take them off and put something more comfy on Hugs to all my fellow sisters, get well and keep up the pampering for a little longer!

Have you tried either bikini underwear or hipster style? That might be more comfortable than full briefs. Works for me.

Re: Can't wear underwear or pants without pain . . .help!
oh hun, sorry to hear that you are being forced back into work already! i feel for you.
and shame on your doc for saying 10 days is enough!! bet he wouldnt say that if HE had to go thru this!
I actually got 2 of the binders from the store and they are such a HUGE help - just need to fidget with them a little to get them adjusted right to be comfortable - not too tight to cause pain, but not too loose either. they really are pretty comfortable once you get them situated right.
I had the DaVinci type on 3/17 w/4 incisions, one on either hip and 2 up higher, and yes, things are still quite tender, but doing better all the time.
I wasnt sure about using the binder either, but really felt the need for the added support - just trying to walk around the house would jar things inside & it was really uncomfortable.
the binders help hold everything in place so nicely I was able to go outside on a nice afternoon for a few hours & have some fun playing with the RC cars we have (DBF did all the chasing if needed tho - I just sat in a lawn chair & drove! and laugh hysterically when one of us crashed - even tho it kind of hurt - it was a good hurt, hehe)
