Anxiety - first time around people...

This weekend will be the first time since my TAH-BSO that I have to be around larger groups of families who know what happened but yet I am not really close enough to that I had talked to them.

I know they know...and I know they are going to ask but I am really just broken right now and anxious thinking about having to be around them. They are going to look at me with "that look"...

We did not have kids because we thought there was time and to be honest we weren't sure they were in the cards but this came out of nowhere and fast. It wasn't a choice.

AND I DONT FEEL THE NEED TO SAY THIS OVER AND OVER AND I DONT WANT TO HAVE TO TALK ABOUT IT.

How do I get thru this weekend? I have to get it over with....I cant keep hiding out but all I want to do is crawl into bed and cry. My BF is not being the best support either...he is being so self involved.

And I am in pain and I dont know if I am needing more or less estrogen. I am struggling and depressed...there I said it.

If I could I would run away with passport in hand today to somewhere familiar yet so far away from here...Ireland...Italy...Netherlands...UGH!

Why cant adults run away from home again? I am breaking...

Re: Anxiety - first time around people...

allieoops, is there anyone else that can run interference for you. My girlfriend did that for me at a baby shower. She just let everyone know that I was still healing and not to inundate me with questions. People just asked if I was doing well. I didn't have to go in to a long story.
I too was anxious, but honestly once it was all over it was not nearly as bad as I expected it to be.
It was sort of like surgery, if I knew now what the other side was going to look like I would not have expended so much energy on things that never were.
I'm sorry you don't have the support you need but know that as your hyster sister I will be holding your hand in spirit as you go through this.
Stick around the most supportive people. Have fun. Eat a little bit of chocolate. The stress of this will decrease your pain threshold. So takes meds if you need it, and call your Dr. on Monday if it doesn't get better.

Re: Anxiety - first time around people...

Allieoops, Relax and enjoy your Easter. Only ignorant people go on about other people surgery. If you are going to be around family and friends they will be more concerned about how your feeling physically. Mine were great for support. They wished me a speedy recovery and told me if I needed anything just call. I thought at that moment that I was nervous over nothing and how great my extended family is. Bet yours is too.

Re: Anxiety - first time around people...

Allie, I think it's ok to say if you're getting too tired. I guess to me that's any easy out... Pre Op I was in a lot of pain and tired easily, I didn't think twice about ducking out of Christmas dinner early. And no one seemed to mind! ♥

Besides, "tired" can mean a variety of things... tired of being awake, tired of pain, tired of Great Aunt Schnertzel's insensitive questions... tired of BF yucking it up with the boys! Feel free to be selfish, you've been through a lot! *hugs*

allieoops

I can sooooooo relate. However I found, most people that I knew were very supportive when they saw me. They asked only out of kindness and not to make me feel worse.

You can give them a answer that works for you, mine was along othe lines of "I'm moving forward" that's all I could manage at the time. I was experiencing a lot of emotions and depression.

Watch the depression in case you need some additional support to get through it.

Sending

Re: Anxiety - first time around people...

Allieoops,

Our surgery dates were very close. I do understand. I am seeing some family members today too, who are in a totally different phase of life. We are meeting "out to dinner" so that we are on neutral turf, and so basically, I don't have too cook. I am not sure what to say to them, except I am healing, and very tired, which is the truth.

Just know you are not alone--I am right there with ya! This too will pass. I am going to try to keep conversations minimal, and focus on the others so that they can talk more about them. I get away with a lot by doing that.

Thinking of you! Try to relax and enjoy your Easter.

Hugs to you!
