possible reasons for a biopsy?

hey folks- me again. :P

i've been having lower abdominal discomfort almost constantly, with downright pain when i THINK i'm having my 'period'.

i'm coming up on 16 weeks post-op LSH, kept ovaries and cervix. my (new, didn't perform my surgery) gyno mentioned that i might feel ovulation pain (never have before), but since i'm starting to spot with it, i'm thinking it's the dreaded mini-period. she had me go for an ultrasound, which was apparently fine. she has now mentioned doing a possible biopsy when i come in for a consult on wednesday.

if everything supposedly looks good, what are possible reasons for her wanting to do a biopsy? don't get me wrong, not complaining - i WANT to know what's going on and how to fix it - i'm just curious. i've though of pelvic infections, since i've had at least two bacterial and yeast infections since surgery, but at my last visit she said she doubted i had that since i wasn't jumping off the table screaming when she fiddled with my cervix.

i'm clueless and hate feeling this way. anyone with any experience with this stuff?

Re: possible reasons for a biopsy?

The only time I had a biopsy was for endometriosis. Not sure if that helps!

Re: possible reasons for a biopsy?

She may be checking for inflammation or something. I know that my doctors have done different biopsies usually during other procedures to check for infection, inflammation, etc. I think I would ask her what she is looking for. She can probably make you feel a lot better about it. Good luck and hope you feel better.

Re: possible reasons for a biopsy?

I had a biopsy when my first gyno said that I had fibroids, and had another done when they found ovarian cyst. Maybe there's something that she wants to double check. It wouldn't hurt to ask though, better safe than sorry when it comes to your health, good luck.
