Discharge normal after 3 weeks?

I had the Davinci hysterectomy 3 weeks ago today, and everything seems to have gone well. I had some bleeding for about 24 hours after the surgery, but then nothing. Then, a week later, I had some fairly minor bleeding on and off for a week. It was mostly pink, so I knew it couldn't be too bad. I went for my two week checkup last week, and the doctor wasn't concerned.

I've noticed that this week I'm having a brown discharge, again on and off. Sometimes I'll go for a day with nothing, and then the next day I'll have it all day. I've noticed it's worse when I sneeze and my bladder leaks some. I haven't noticed any strange smells.

Just wondering if this normal and how long I might expect it to last.

Other than this, I'm doing quite well. Had a scare a few days after the surgery that I might have a blood clot, but thankfully the test had given a false positive. I can wholehearted recommend the Davinci procedure - I think I healed much faster than I would have using another technique!

I am at two weeks and I am still the panty liner queen ..... so I am wondering if it will ever stop.

Re: Discharge normal after 3 weeks?

Hi Ladies, I'm 4 wks out and spoke to one of my Dr.'s nurses because I have been spotting since I was in my 2nd wk. She said that spotting could last up to 6wks!!! She told me not to worry unless it got heavy and a brighter red color. I have used so many liners that I should have bought stock in the company. I can't wait until it is over so I can give away all my period items. HUGS

Re: Discharge normal after 3 weeks?

I am three weeks out and should also buy stock in the panty liner company. My hubby brought a new supply home for me the other day. I peeled the backing off one of those beauties and actually saw that the company had written "Have a happy period" on the thing.

Really??

Re: Discharge normal after 3 weeks?

The nurse just told me that it is normal too - as stitches begin dissolving, you can get a sudden increase (again, nothing major though) even if you have had nothing before. As long as it doesn't get heavy, I was told that up to six weeks is totally normal.

I'm at almost 5 weeks and still using a panty liner...i was told as the stitches dissolve to expect brownish/yellowish and an odor...LOVELY! Also if you had other repairs like me...you will have more to dissolv...this could take a while!
