Prolapsed Uterus/bladder sling/rectal and vaginal repair

Okay so here's what I know so far. My uterus started dropping about a year ago, slightly. Went back to my doc because I was having pain come to find out I have 2nd degree Uterine prolapse. Went in for a pelvis ultrasound and waiting on results. Here are my questions......
Found out my doctor is NOT Board Certified, she has been practicing for 26 years, we live in a small but growing town and she is the only female Gyn. Now, if I am having bladder issues along with rectal(we don't know for sure yet) shouldnt I be seeing a specialist? She does not specialize in these areas are their Gyn. that specialize in my problem? This is my health we are talking about and I want the very best Doctor/surgeon. After I get my results from her, do I hear her out or do I find a Dr. who specializes in my issues? HELP!

Re: Prolapsed Uterus/bladder sling/rectal and vaginal repair

One type of specialist you might want to see is a uro-gynecologist. They specialize in both the female productive system but also the urological system and thus can be a great type of doctor to treat prolapse issues.

You can definitely hear your doctor out, but I would suggest not making any final decisions until you get at least one other opinion. You could either ask her for a referral to a uro-gynecologist, check with your GP for a referral, or call your insurance company for a list of names. Because you are in a small town, you might want to head to one of the larger cities nearby.

You may also want to check www.suggestadoctor.com to see if there are any uro-gynecologists or gynecologists in your area you might want to see.

I wish you all the best! in there!

Thank you so much, I did some research on some doctors in the larger cities and I found one that was rated top doc this past year. I will go that route and get a second opinion, thank you.

Hi boxerluver

I had prolapse, and my 2nd opinion had much more cutting & pasting in mind than my 3rd opinion. You are smart to take the time to ask questions & seek out another opinion (or three!).

Get smart about your symptoms and your options, and make the best choice for you I hope you are able to find the right answers soon. I am sending huge cyberhugs
