Question - Steroid Injections for scar tissue? Steroid Injections for scar tissue?

Hi. I was wondering if anyone has had steroid injections to reduce and thin out scar tissue that is painful? I had a perineorraphy and tvt and I'm having loads of problems. My 2nd opinion dr suggested these injections in my perineum and premarin (sp?) cream for the vaginal fissures. Also in a little bit he says he will dialate mu urethra to 'loosen the sling'..that I believe has impeaded my ability to release when I have an orgasm..and I don't fully empty when I urinate. It has been 7 months so I should not have all these crazy problems still....anyone have the injections/ and or loosened tape???? I go back in a few weeks to give him an answer...Thanks

Re: Steroid Injections for scar tissue?

Yes. I had this done years ago - not long after my hysterectomy. I had pelvic pain still, and saw a pelvic floor PT who did some tissue manipulation that helped.

My urogyn wanted to try the steroid shots too. I am afraid to say I do not recommend them (just based on my experience). What I remember was the dr injecting through the vaginal wall, into the pelvic cavity and it BURNED, though I think he might have used lidocaine first. It was very painful and I bled for a couple of days afterwards. I did not get any relief.

My PT helped more with breaking up scar tissue and adhesions and so that's what I'd recommend if I was faced with the same issue again.

Years later it was discovered (during BSO surgery) that I had endometriosis and I wondered if the pelvic pain I had was related to that as I was never able to get rid of it entirely.

Post - Steroid Injections for scar tissue? Re: Steroid Injections for scar tissue?

Thank you Calypso for your response. My problem is more of a surface issue, not deep inside. He wants to do the injections just in the perineum area..not far inside. I just had a scope and nothing was found to be wrong inside and they have attributed the left sided belly pain to my bowels?? So I see a gi now for that. I need to hear other stories though as my sppt is coming up! I find it really hard to believe that you are the only one that had had this done. Thank you so musch for answering. Maybe no one likes reading my posts for some reason??? Haha Thanks
