6 weeks post op and bleeding with sex

I am totally freaked out about this! We decided to wait to be sure things were healed up in there, i had some complications with my TAH. Anyways, today was the first time since the surgery, and it didnt really hurt, it definitely felt different, but i bled alot afterward. Should i be worried?

Re: 6 weeks post op and bleeding with sex

I'm sorry you're having bleeding issues. Has your doctor released you to resume intercourse yet? You may or may not be completely healed internally or you may have some granulation that needs to be treated. (Granulation is scar tissue which starts to form over an unhealed area that prevents or slows healing.)

I encourage you to give your doctor a call so you'll know for sure what is going on.

The doc cleared me for intercourse on Tuesday. He said i am healing up really well! I'm still spotting abit today and think i may have infection, it's SO itchy! Ugh! I will call the doc tomorrow. Thanks!

Yes, definitely get checked out for vag infection. Also, might ask the doc about some internal cream (prescription or OTC) that will give you more vaginal moisture. I noticed that when I my hormones were out of whack I had more infections. Tried the internal cream and it helped alot. Let us know how you are doing... Good luck!

Hi kimmywoman, thanks for the heads up! You are right, i bet it is because i was too dry. We had to use lubricant like, 4 times during intercourse! Is that normal? will it even out eventually, so i dont have to worry about this? I will talk to the doc about some cream. Thanks for your help!

Re: 6 weeks post op and bleeding with sex

Have you started HRT if you do not have ovaries now? Might be a good thing to talk to your doc about that too. I am now on both estrogen vaginal cream and oral estrogen. There are a lot of options with vaginal mositure products. Precription ones are Vagifem, Estring and Estrace cream (might be more too). Over the counter there is Replens.. Lots of options for HRT too.. take care and hope you and your doctor can come up with a good plan...
