how long for a small internal hemotoma to re absorb

HI

I am 7 weeks post sah hysterectomy have healed fine in myself . However I was scanned via vaginal ultra sound at 4 weeks post op and it was discovered that i have a small internal hemotoma it is placed near the bladder so causes irritation, when peeing. I can feel it it is on the left side and feels like a tugging dull pain. Consultant said it is small and it will gradually be re absorbed into the body. Any one have anything similar that dissappeared if so what kind of time scale ( docs say can take a while) annoying because it is delaying my recovery. be grateful for any feedback. ( it was not considered large enough to require draining) the pain is not getting any worse just stays at same level.

Re: how long for a small internal hemotoma to re absorb

Hi,

I went in for my follow-up appt at 3 weeks last Thursday and I also have a hemotoma. I don't know if it's considered small. My dr did show me it on the ultrasound. Mine is on my left side and I had pain that was gone this morning but I have pressure so I know it's still there. I have been freaking out. Thinking of many questions....like what if it does not reabsorb...what if it's not a hemotoma, what if.....(all not good thoughts). I came to this board today in search of answers and there are quite a few posts that I'm looking through. Hope ours clear up soon. Keep me posted.

hi youngnrestless.

I still have my hemotoma it is small but it placed near the bladder and causes irritation it stings and throbs at night doc said this was because the body is trying to get rid of it. Unfiortunately it delays healing and they can take a long time to re absorb. Does your feels liquidy and does it give you a fullness and pressure in the vagina? they will go just have to be patient i have been worrying like mad.

Re: how long for a small internal hemotoma to re absorb

I just went for my 2 week post-op and I also have a hematoma on my right side under my incision. It is really uncomfortable and painful at times especially when trying to sleep. My Dr. told me to put moist hot compresses on it a few times a day. She did say it would eventually get absorb. The hot washcloths seems to help with the swelling but it is very bothersome! Hoping this will not last a long time!

Re: how long for a small internal hemotoma to re absorb

Hi,

I'm not sure where exactly mine is....must not be on my bladder because going to the bathroom does not bother me. I just know it's on the left side. I am a stomach and side sleeper and have had to sleep on my back because of the discomfort. It feels big. When I try to sleep on my right it feels like a ball rolls to the middle of my abdomen (I think it's just the pressure). Who knows. I've been worrying too. I thought I should not take Motrin or any ibuprofin because that can promote bleeding and someone told me I should be taking it to help break it up. I have not called the dr office to ask. The pain has gone away now but I have the pressure/discomfort and my belly is huge. I have my next follow-up on May 13. Take care!

Re: how long for a small internal hemotoma to re absorb

Hi,

Thanks for your message....I was actually feeling really depressed yesterday and wondering if this will ever go away. I just hope it is just a hemotoma and that it will. You give me hope. I think mine is getting better. I can actually sleep on both sides now without the pain. I just have this full feeling like I have a ball on my left side. I think I just have to be patient. Every time I think I'm doing better it seems like I go backwards. I have been using a heating pad and that seems to help. I read somewhere about some bruise cream and I tried to find it yesterday at the store and couldn't. I'll try other stores. I'm glad to hear that yours is gone and you'll be all better in a few months. I had no idea this surgery was going to be such a big deal. From everyone I talked to they acted like it was a breeze. Take care. I'm in Michigan and the sun is shinning today after a rainy weekend. Hope it's nice where you are. That seems to help.

hi youngnrestless

I understand how you are feeling but your hemotoma will go very soon and things will be better. I still have funny bladder sensations and spasms and i am way ahead of you (7 weeks) luckily mY consultant is very reassuring and patient. Can take a good 4 months for some ladies to feel more like there old selves.

take care. sun shining here too. (UK)

Re: how long for a small internal hemotoma to re absorb

Hello ladies, I am not sure but I might be going though the same thing. I have having this bad pain on my left side right under my rib cage around my incision. I had my surgery on 4/20 via davinci. Everything seemed to be going well and then this pain showed up one week post-op and is getting worse. Last week I went in for my one week post op and she said that it felt like a small hemotoma. Is it normal for the pain to get worse? I called the DR and she wants me to come in tomorrow at noon for U/S. Hopefully I will get some answers soon. All I know is the pain is terrible! Almost as bad as the day out of surgery
