lump under my incision

2 weeks post op today and I have a big lump under the far right side of my incision. It is uncomfortable especially at night. I have been putting an ice pack on it in the evening and it seems to help some. Is this normal??? Anyone else having this???

Re: lump under my incision

it may be just scar tissue building but if it gets red or you start with a fever or it gets really sore you should go to the dr, I know it's friday so you may have to go to ER, maybe you could call the ob dr on call and ask them about it tonite just to be safe, you sure don't want a infection to set you back father than you already are! Gook Luck and let us know how it turns out!! And welcome to the other side!!

I had the same thing at 2 1/2 weeks post-op. I thought it was the "knot" from my internal sutures and it was right near there, but then it hurt and got hot. I used an ice pack to make it feel better too and couldn't sleep at night. Are you sweating at night? I thought it was lack of hormones, well, I was wrong!!! I also had this happen on a Friday and put off calling a dr. until Sat. I refused to go to Urgent Care on Sunday. By Monday a.m. I was at the dr. office having an abscess popped open and stuffed with gauze. It was a staph infection, but not MRSA. I am not saying this to scare you, but I only had a fever of 100.5 so dr. wasn't really concerned when I called on Thurs. before incident. If you have a fever and are using ice on it, have it checked out before it leads to something worse.

Good Luck and let me know what happens.

Re: lump under my incision

I have three lumps along my incision which started off feeling very tender. I was putting a hot pack on them of an evening. They are going down now so was probably a fluid collection. If the lumps feel hot and get red it may be infected so get it checked. But it is common to get lumps.
