Dying for a cigarette!

I started smoking again after a few month quit when I got news that I had a pelvic mass (anxiety- melanoma survivor). Anyway, then they determined that the mass is a benign fibroid so I started calming down, then quit so that I could be in "better shape" for surgery which is this coming Thursday and now, I am having such a hard time not smoking. Anybody else having this problem?

Re: Dying for a cigarette!

I quit 3 years ago, but seem to relapse every holiday with all the wine, etc. End up smoking Nov and Dec and quitting again every January. I am horrible about drinking and smoking together. I did smoke in January when I got my news as I was so nervous, but just stopped before surgery. I find that chocolate helps me. Maybe you can try that. Every time I want one, I have a piece of hershey bar or something. Seems to take the craving away for some reason.

Re: Dying for a cigarette!

Thanks! I actually made it through the night. I put on a third of a patch to help. Didn't really want any nicotine in my system, but I figure there can't be much in a third of a patch, plus it is better than me going on a smoking binge! Yes, chocolate helps a lot but I am too overweight now to use it for compensation. That is another risk factor I have . . . thus, trying to eat light the next 3 days so that I don't feel bloated and gross heading into surgery.
