Help a friend!

Hi Ladies!
I have a very dear friend who is having her hysterectomy this December. Her doctor also found some "abnormalities", along with thickening in the uterine wall, and so she'll be having a biopsy soon. Her family is pretty shaken up by this. What can I do or say to help her and her family?

My first reaction when I first found out I had fibroid and "suspicious" lookings cysts was to think the worst. I was sooo worried about the "what ifs"...but everything turned out ok...no cancer and no problems with surgery and/or recovery. I think it's important to remain calm (know that's hard)...and start getting prepared for surgery and recovery.

Does your friend have access to computer so she can visit hystersisters site???? If not, order her the hystersisters book (from the store)...it can be sent directly to her...or to you and you can mail it to her. It might help calm her fears.

I had abnormalities and a thickening of the uterine wall and in a D and C uterine cancer was discovered. I certainly hope that this is not the case with your friend, but should it come to this, uterine cancer is very curable. Usually surgery is the only treatment necessary if it is caught early, as was mine.

Thickening of the uterine wall is also very common and consistant with menopause. It is also possible that the abnormalities are merely cysts.

Please tell her not to panic, just get the diagnosis from the tests and go from there. Many things can cause these changes, including hormonal imbalances.
