Hematoma With Bleeding 2 Wks. Post-op

Hi,
I want to let everyone know what happened to me.
Yesterday (Oct. 11) I was 2 weeks post-op, (TAH-BSO). I have been having a slight discharge and bleeding from my incision for several days. I called my DD's office and they told me it was okay because the site heals from the inside-out. Last night, it started to bleed ALOT, from one small spot. I was tempted to go to the nearest ER. It bled during the night and all morning. I was keeping gauze pads on it, but they would become blood soaked in 20-30 minutes. I went to my DD's office this afternoon and saw one of his partners (of course, he was off today).
It turns out I have a HUGE hematoma (bruise) underneath the incision. You can feel it, it's rock hard. It is going to have to drain itself. The blood that is coming out is old blood, based on how dark it is. She warned me to watch it for signs of infection: pus, redness around the site, a fever. I will see her in one week for a recheck. In the meantime, I am putting thick gauze and a sanitary pad taped over it. I thought I was through buying pads!!!
She didn't seem concerned at all and said she has seen it many times. I wanted to let everyone know in case you develop any of my symptoms. It was scary, but now I'm relieved that it will clear up. It's just going to be a messy nuisance for the next couple of weeks.

rtkay...I'm sorry you had to go through that! But, I'm glad they figured out what it is and it will be fixed soon! Yikes, that sounds scary! Thanks for the info.

Sending healing thoughts your way!

In peace, Sue :ribbon:
