Mother's Day blues

I have no children. It wasn't that I didn't want children but life just didn't work out that way for me. Several years ago I had my tubes tied. But I always new if there was a "miracle" and I got pregnant I would have been thrilled. Or if I really wanted a child there were ways around the tubal. At 44 I was confident that I didn't want a child at this point in my life and didn't think it was an issue with getting the hysterectomy. As it turns out it is a big issue for me since surgery. What I am having a tough time with is I don't have the option anymore, it's no longer my choice to remain childless, there is no chance for a miracle. I have to try to pull it together so I can take my mom out tomorrow and have a nice day.

Re: Mother's Day blues

I know how you feel about the option of giving birth to your own child being taken away. Being 43 at the time of my surgery, I knew my chances of experiencing the joy of bringing a new life into this world were getting slim, but that doesn't make dealing with having that option taken away any easier. (Adoption is an option for some of us, but personally, that option is far away for me and my boyfriend. I still need to get myself back to being emotionally stable before welcoming a child into our home. It wouldn't be fair to the child.)

to those of us who wanted children, but were never able to experience the joys of pregnancy and childbirth.

Classical Music -

There is nothing that I can say that will take away the grief of not being able to experience the birth of your own child.

I found great comfort today in the blessing that my priest gave in today's mass. He asked that "All women who have been or are mothers, godmothers or have mothered another stand for a blessing." This is the first since I could have been a biological mother that I was included in a mother's day blessing at my church.

and prayers that you find the strength to deal with these challenges.

Re: Mother's Day blues

Thank you everyone! It has been a rough day. I have been checking in and reading your posts. It has really meant a lot to me, no one around me understands. I've tried to talk to my mom and my stepmom, they just don't get it.
