Help...Losing too much weight

Hi everyone, I am 34 and 5 wks post-op from a TVH with ovaries left. My diagnosis was cervical cancer, stage 1 non-invasive. My surgery went off without a hitch. I did have some internal bleeding causing a hemotoma. However, my body abosorbed it without any further problems. I had my 4 wk post-op this past Tuesday and was told everything has healed great, I could even return to baths and sex. My problem now is I am suddenly losing weight rather rapidly and I am getting concerned. Pre-surgery I was 98 lbs at 5'1. I have always had a high metabolisim and am athletic. About a week after the surgery I weighed 93 lbs, and have held steady at that until the last 2 days. I just weighed myself and am now 89lbs. That is not healthy even for my small size. I eat more now than prior to the surgery and am not as active either. What could be going on??? I was hoping for advice or to find someone else that has experienced this. I will be calling my Dr. on Monday regardless. Thanks.

I'm sorry that I can't offer any insight, but I'm glad you are going to call your doctor. My thoughts will be with you.

Re: Help...Losing too much weight

I also have had this problem recently. I found that by saying you are having unintentional weight loss that they tend to react quickly. Maybe have to put you on supplements or something. I am sure they will check thyroid and other metabolic issues. Definitely talk to your doctor so he can help you. I am now on supplements to maintain my weight and believe me they are following me very closely due to this sudden problem. I was always so worried that I couldn't lose weight and now I am worried that I am losing. Strange world isn't it?
