Re: Am I the only one celebrating my hysterectomy? (kids mentioned)
doing cartwheels in my mind LOL
Positive words and energy do wonders for healing, that is why they say laughter is the best medicine! My heart does go out to those that are having a hard time and i send big hugs to you all. Somedays it is hard beiong positive but i find the smallest things that made me happyand start from there, like the first bird i heard or the chipmunk running across the grass. The world is beautiful we just have to pay attention ! The more beauty we see the more positive we feel. One step at a time can make you feel like your flying above all the negative and feeling good !
sorry for rambling but i just love positive energy !

Re: Am I the only one celebrating my hysterectomy? (kids mentioned)
This was the best decision for me. I'm soooooo glad I did it and I'm well on my way to getting my life back. My DH looked at me soon after the surgery and noticed I had my old smile back. He said he hadn't seen that smile from me in a long time. I knew I was uncomfortable before surgery, but until it was over I didn't realize just how much my health issues were bringing me down. Maybe when I'm fully recovered I will try a cartwheel to celebrate!

Re: Am I the only one celebrating my hysterectomy? (kids mentioned)
I'm 5 weeks post op today from LAVH/BSO. I haven't felt this great in years. I too had long horrible periods. When my dr sugested a hysterectomy i jumped at the chance. I was so worried they were gonna wanna try pills or make me jump through a million hoops before going with hysterectomy.I haven't even had any menopause symptoms.

I wonder how long until I am cleared to do cartwheels? Back in my early 20's about 8 weeks after the 1st C-section I could do a cartwheel without any trouble. I also tried a hand stand into a back bend and discovered that was a real bad idea. Ouch, still remember that pain.

Re: Am I the only one celebrating my hysterectomy? (kids mentioned)
I agree! I am so excited to have the pain and the horrible periods gone!! I actually came to this site the day before my surgery and then called my girlfriend who I had told about the site and said "DO NOT go to that site I told you about...it is nothing but scary and sad" I actually only came back today (10 days after surgery) because a couple of questions came up and I was not sure where to get the answers"... I am hoping today I will find good info and not get scared like I did last time I was on...

Re: Am I the only one celebrating my hysterectomy? (kids mentioned)
I'm am sooo happy to FINALLY have this done...I have spent the last five years BEGGING the military for a H. No one bothered to try anything outside of birthcontrol pills to regulate and decrease bleeding until last year. I have children and have suffered miscarriages between each. My cycles were going as long as 45 days at some points. I tried Depo and the IUD then Dr C (Dec 09) came along and we tried the ablation only because I was transferring back to the states. Once here my cycle was getting worse and cramps that had me bed ridden, which I never had in the past. Also discovered that I had fibroids again with the addition of them being within the walls of the uterus. I was then BLESSED to finally get my hysterectomy. I do understand why some are sad about not having the option to have children...I look at babies and still have a longing but I now focus on ensuring that the young ladies in my charge who are single mothers get all the help and support that they may need and it fills that part in my heart. It is the best thing that I could have done for myself. I'm doing absolutely wonderful; no bleeding or discharge, no pain...even with gas , I'm back to working out, I can sleep on my belly...all in all the old me is back. I'm still listening to my body and ensuring that i'm not overdoing it. I'm sorry I could go on and on...but this is the first thread where I've felt that I didn't have to down play just how wonderful things are ...ok enough and best wishes to all you ladies.

Re: Am I the only one celebrating my hysterectomy? (kids mentioned)
I am one of those who did not get to have children of my own. I found out at an early age that I would not be able to have them. When the chance came up for me to take in two wonderful children, I not only jumped, but I leaped on the chance. I love them so much. They are my life and I have been bleesed to be given the chance to be a mother. I have always had problems with my periods, heavy bleeding, bed ridden at those times of the month. I am 4 week post. I can not do cartwheels yet, but I am happy that I had made this discion to do so. I feel so much better, but my poor man will never get the chance to have children of his own. He tells me not to worry about it, but it still hurts. He was adopted himself, and he feels like he is in the right place. I am blessed all the way around. Thank God. I do wish we could adopted one more, but he says two is just fine with him.LOL.

Re: Am I the only one celebrating my hysterectomy? (kids mentioned)
I wonder why the impression about negativity on this site exists. I so desperately needed to have this surgery and finally decided to do so because I couldn't function in my life anymore. I came home from the doctor and watched Dr. Oz, whose show was all about why women shouldn't have hysterectomies. It also happened to be my 44th birthday. I was completely terrified and confused at that point, but all of the information I found here helped me to realize I was absolutely making the right decision. It was an option I hadn't even considered until that week.
I had the surgery twenty-two days later and hopped on the operating table with a big smile on my face because I was so glad for the pain to end, for no longer having to know which super-plus tampons I could combine with which pad (always leaked anyway) to get through a single fifty minute class. I would no longer have to keep spare pants and hope students didn't notice a leak or walk out of a meeting with a giant red stain on my rear end. I would get to make love with my spouse without have to soak the sheets in cold water.
Although I am healing slowly and waiting for test results that I have my fingers crossed will show no other reason for my extreme fatigue, I am so excited to be my energetic self again. I am very grateful for this site.

Re: Am I the only one celebrating my hysterectomy? (kids mentioned)
I am so happy to have found others who are celebrating this wonderful change in our lives! I am so happy that I will no longer feel pain and stain my clothes.
I just got tired of feeling like I had to walk on eggshells because some people are so sensitive. Like some women who say "oh, I have 4-5 children...I wish I could have had more", right next to the woman who never got to have even ONE child. They should be ashamed of themselves.
To those who are celebrating like me...YAY! We can each have out "goodbye uterus" parties and do cartwheels! Woohooo!
