Bye, Flo! (And other stuff)
We all know, intellectually, that our uterus/periods/ovaries have no sentience. So why does it seem like our last periods are so much harder than any other?
Went in for a pre-pre-op appointment (My pre-op appointment is the day before my surgery... and that is not enough time to do all the research that I wanted to do before the surgery.) and it just had to fall on the worst day of the worst period I've ever had.
SuperPlus Tampon and pad every 45 minutes. *shudders* I'm in pain... and I'm bleeding like a stuck pig... and I'm passing clots... Y'know, the usual. And my nurse wants to take my blood pressure.
"Uncross your legs... Don't want to raise your blood pressure.", "Stop talking, you'll raise your blood pressure.", "Would you quit making snide comments to your wife? We don't want to raise her blood pressure."
So my blood pressure is taken while I'm talking, wanting to smack my hubby, and trying not to scream in pain.
"Hmmm.... Your BP is 80/62. Is it normally that low?"
*eye roll* No. Usually it's slightly higher (92/68... just slightly higher.), but I also don't usually go see a doctor while I'm on my period.
"A period shouldn't lower your blood pressure by..." *actually looks at my file* "... Ummmm... Never mind."
Hah! Hahahaha! Apparently my low BP is explainable by heavy period. Or something.
So the doc comes in and says "Did you know that you're blood pressure is really low today?"
Hmmm.... Nope. Hadn't a clue. *raises eyebrow* Could it be because I'm On. My. Period?
"Ah. That would explain it. Any questions today?"
So we go on with our appointment.
And I get told that I can bring my teddy bear (in scrubs) in to surgery with me! Yay!
(Hey! No jokes. He's a good teddy. And he smells like my hubby.)
So yeah. Rambling about stuff and happy that I won't have to deal with the evil Aunt Flo ever again. (She's such a b!tc#.)

Re: Bye, Flo! (And other stuff)
I agree! That Aunt Flo is sure a menace, and her visits DO seem to get worse and worse the closer we get to our surgery dates. Mine just started 2 days ago, and I must admit she is really going out with a bang! She must know that my surgery is next week.
I did not know that menstruation can signficantly lower the blood pressure. Maybe that is why I've been feeling so tired and worn out lately.
Hang in there, I hope you feel better soon!
