Had a 2 week post op appt today-- nervous about it

Ok so today I went in for an appt-- I am 12 days post op. I made the appt because I had itchy "down there" and odor that I was worried about. Turns out that I do not have an infection which is good news. He did however say that if my diarrhea keeps up he wants me to give a stool sample to check for an intestinal infection.

Ok here is why I am scared-- I thought he was just going to peek down there..... But he used a thin speculum and even did an exam with a finger and felt around! He said everything is healing up nicely and we talked about how I am doing, etc.

Ok so now I am crampy a really sore from his exam. I was so nervous he was gonna rip out stitches or make me bleed!!! The rule of nothing in the vagina for 8 weeks would mean his gloved finger with KY on it right. I am freaking out. Whatnot he poked somewhere he shouldn't be poking?? The nurse told me to calm down and that my doc is an expert which of course he is! I even asked him if could feel the stitches cuz I was worried about the exam and he said the stitches aren't at the end of the vaginal canal, that it is sewn shut from the other side of it.... Like inside my tummy. Ok so have any of you ladies had a two week post op with a pelvic exam and then been so sore afterwards? I am just freaking out because i did not want an actual internal exam at this point.... It really hurt and I scared!

Re: Had a 2 week post op appt today-- nervous about it

I had a quick internal exam two weeks post op. I was surprised as well. Dr said all looked good. I had a little discomfort for a short time afterwards. At least now I won't be anxious about the internal at my six week visit.

Re: Had a 2 week post op appt today-- nervous about it

Hey been there.
I had to go in about 1 week post op to give stool sample (for that intestinal infection you spoke of) and the nurse practitioner gave me an exam.
I was mortified and in tears at the thought of it. It was not pleasant.
I was SO sore afterwards. It does subside. Take it easy. There is no way they would do an exam if it would injure you in any way.
hugs.

Hey, hope you don't mind me asking also...but did the doc give any other explanation for the diarrhea?
I tested negative for the infection, but D continues....granted it has calmed down significantly, but my movements are still loose. Just wondering. Hope you are taking it easy.

He said he had no explanation for it! I am very frustrated!! I read my surgery report which said my bowel was adhered to the left side of my abdomen wall (I think that was how it was worded) and that they had to cut it apart from each other..... Did you have anything like that? Maybe work done on the bowel has something to do with it???

Re: Had a 2 week post op appt today-- nervous about it

I'm going for my post op on Thurs., but from what he told my husband and mother...he just excised endo from my pelvic wall and removed my bits. I was having bowel problems before surgery...I was constipated though and after a CT scan and colonoscopy it was believed that scar tissue was pulling on my bowels and cecum. My surgeon was prepared to to do a bowel resection, but didn't have to. No scar tissue.
There may have been some moving of my bowels but no actual work on it...so I have no explanation for the D either.

I understand your frustration. Hang in there. We'll get thru this. I'll post back after my appt. on Thurs and let you know if my doc has any insight.
Take it easy...
