Very undecided

Hello ladies,

I have been reading the posts of the boards and I have learned so much from all of you.
My situation is this....a few years ago my obgyn told me about the fibroids on my uterus...said no worries lets just keep an eye on them to see if they grow. I was only experiencing very heavy bleeding and clotting.
In January I saw a new obgyn and he told me not only have my fibroids grown but I also have endomitrial polyps. He said see how it goes over the next few months and give him a call if I experience any problems.
Well, I think I have been dealing the with "the problems" for so long, I almost got used to them. Relations with my hubby are very painful no matter which position we may try. I urinate constantly....moreso at night...at least 3-4 times which is probably the reason why I do not get any sleep at night. I do have pain in the groin area and my periods are just out of control. I get it every 2 weeks and also have been spotting in between.
So the doc put me on the pill....but I am still bleeding. He pretty much said the only way to relieve me of the other symptoms is do the hyst. since if they only remove the fibroids, they will probably grow back. The one is pressing against my bladder...I feel like I have to pee almost all of the time.
Hubby says he thinks I should go thru with it, as do some of my other family members since they know how miserable I've been. Still so undecided.
Thanks for letting me share.

Re: Very undecided

Hi tracy - welcome to the site! I had many of the same symptoms except for the bladder issues. It took me several months after my diagnosis to find a surgeon and procedure that I felt totally comfortable with. I think it is almost the only thing I thought about for 10 months! But I just had my surgery on Tuesday with TWO amazing surgeons (one brought the LSH equipment and the other provided the OR time). I couldn't be happier, and I went into surgery feeling 100% solid in my decision to reclaim my life!

Are there specific worries that are making you feel undecided? The more you can share, the more we can do our best to support you in working through it all....it is a major decision and can be very overwhelming!

Wishing you the very best! This site saved me from going bonkers!

Re: Very undecided

Hi there!!

Actually, I think that I have made my decision. The bladder trouble has really become an issue. I am up at least 3-4 times a night....which in turn causes me to be so fatigued during the day because of the lack of sleep. I also have to visit the ladies room hourly, which really causes problems with my work since I'm on the road alot. I also have started having lower back pain, and I think I am going to call the doc today to talk about scheduling the hysterectomy.
I don't feel comfortable being back on "the pill". just to control the bleeding. I had so many problems with it when I was younger, which is why I stopped taking it back then.
So I think that I have read enough and done enough research to make my decision.
This site has been so very helpful to me.
Thank you!
Tracy

Re: Very undecided

I was in a situation very similar to yours, except that I'd been on the Pill for 20+ years, which probably kept bleeding in check. I was very sure about my decision to proceed with an LSH, and between the time I scheduled the surgery and actually had it, my fibroids continued to grow and my bladder problems escalated to the point of incontinence. After surgery (which in my case took 5 hours, but was otherwise easy on me), I had complete relief from all symptoms and even some I didn't know I had -- such as colon issues.
