Question - Is menopause possible at 32? Is menopause possible at 32?

I had a hysterectomy two years ago today, and I wonder a lot of the time if I'm starting menopause. (My ovaries were left in place during surgery)

I sweat so badly at night sometimes that it feels like I've been in a swimming pool with my clothes on. I'm also having hair show up more than it used to in strange places (a stray one on my breast, or one on my back, etc), and I'm having a hard time plucking all the hair on my chin because there's so much of it.

What are the chances that this could be early menopause?

Re: Is menopause possible at 32?

I started early menopause as well around that age with the hot flashes and night sweats.

You can always ask your dr for a blood test, that will be able to tell you for sure.

Re: Is menopause possible at 32?

My doc told me that even just removal of the uterus and tubes can cause hormonal changes. Short answer, yes, you can. Trust your body and what you are feeling. I had my uterus removed at 31 and they left the ovaries . Within 6 months one had a huge grapefruit size cyst on it and the other had shriveled up and quit functioning. My doc said it was very common for that to happen. So yes, time to see doc, and get an exam and get blood work. He also did an ultrasound on me or now a days they could just either do a CT or MRI. They can tell if they have growths on them or if they are functioning.
Trust your body. It is telling you something.

Re: Is menopause possible at 32?

I'm 42, and started having hot flashes and night sweats at the age of 25. Since my LSH they grew in intensity, thank goodness my ovaries seem to have kicked in and they are very infrequent. It is possible that you are premenopausal. Call your doctor have you hormone levels checked. Take care.

Re: Is menopause possible at 32?

so, Virtuous, it's possible then, for the hormones to kick in later? how long did it take yours to work? I'm 34 and the doc sais i'm menopausal, but that my ovary might still kick in later. I was hoping it would be sooner than later :P i really dont want to go on HRT. i have just heard SO much bad stuff about that!
