New here..feeling blue

I am new to your site. I had total abdominal hysterectomy w/left ovary/tube removal April 29th. I am feeling pretty good. Getting around ok. But all of a sudden I am very very emotional. I cant seem to sleep and cry all the time. I don't quite understand why I am feeling this way. I thought that still having my right ovary I would not experience any kind of hormonal issues.

Any suggestions?

Under the circumstances I think crying and not sleeping is normal. Our bodies just went thru some major trauma. I have the blues and have been crying off and on too. My doc. said this is normal as there is still a fluctuation of hormones going on. If it continues or gets worse, by all means call you doc for an appt. just keep him/her in the loop.

Hope you feel better soon....just keep a stock pile of tissues w/ you

Your remaining ovary might be 'sleeping', hence the hormonal issues. I hope you feel better soon too. If it gets worse, give your doc a call, maybe some hormone assistance until your ovary kicks in again.

I was exactly the same way!!! Thank god for my mother-in-law, making me aware that all surgeries are emotional, but especially hysterectomies. Like you, I have a remaining ovary, but it takes awhile for hormones to settle down. I'm 6 week post-op and although I'm not crying every day, I still get emotional. Hang in there
