Going in on Tuesday

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to this site. I really am glad to know that there is real support out there for others who have gone through what I've gone through. I am 29 yrs old and scheduled for a hysterectomy. They are supposed to leave my ovaries and I have had adhesions removed in the past. How should I prepare before the day of my surgery? I am making a week's worth of meals for my family so that my hubby has one less thing on his plate. Thanks for the support!

Hope to be InandOut!

Re: Going in on Tuesday

I'm going in on Tuesday too. I am ironing a few week's of shirts, so DH will be set. We're going to get an ice cream tonight with the top down on our MG for a relaxing evening. Then I'm going to spend some time with DH and my cats. Later, I'm going to plan what to take to the hospital etc. The chat the other night on pre-op was very helpful!
Good-luck to you too on Tuesday!

Re: Going in on Tuesday

Regarding preparing the day before your surgery - you really need to ask your doctor regarding your diet. Not all doctor's recommend it, but mine has me on a "bowel prep" where I don't have much to eat tomorrow other than a small breakfast - oatmeal or toast, chicken broth, jello, magnesium citrate & a fleet enema in the evening. Also, she said no dairy products the day before.

I also had housecleaners come to get everything nice and clean and got some really nice bed sheets. I just did some yard work, because it will be a while before I get back out in the yard. Tomorrow, I'm working a full day of work, but I hope to get a short walk in tomorrow night.

Re: Going in on Tuesday

Hey Ladies,

So for those who are doing the bowel prep do we have to do the enema in addition to mc? I saw that on my sheet but didn't realize I needed to get both. Good luck to you all on Tuesday! Thx to everyone for the encouraging words. At least I have a vacation to look forward to in almost 4 weeks. Going away for my 10 year anniv. See u guys in post-op forum!

Re: Going in on Tuesday

I was only told to do the mc not an enema.

Re: Going in on Tuesday

I was told to do both - the mc in am and at lunch and the enema at night. Good-luck to everyone here - see you on the other side! Cheers to everyone at lunch tomorrow who will be drinking the mc!
