Surgery date is fast approaching

Starting to stress a little June 1st is my date. There are 3 of us that cover for each other at work and I am going out next week and another one out in Sept. So the other one has decided she has hurt her back and taking off and will be back who knows when. I hate leaving my job not covered especially when EVERYONE including the bosses say she is doing it so she doesn't have to do any of the work. I told them I do not need this going into surgery and recovery I don't want to be stressing they assure me it is ok they will handle it. She freaked out and couldn't do my stuff when we were cross training and went to HR to see what her options were to retire. ok no stress no stress.
I am having trouble getting to this place to post hoping I found it.

Re: Surgery date is fast approaching

I was scared also and very stressed and then I found this site. It is so comforting to read everything and there is not a topic that you can think about that has not been covered at one time or another on the site.

Take your time and roam around - you'll be feeling better about everything in no time.

Remember work will be there when you recover - take the time you need.

Re: Surgery date is fast approaching

I am new to the site as well and I am also having my surgery June 1st. I am a teacher so I'll be winding down with the students soon so the job is one less stress for the summer.
Let's keep in contact and help each other throughout this experience. I know what to expect, have read all of the information, trust my doctor, but I still feel that my body will be so different in so many ways. Most women I talk to are happy that they had this surgery and just feel better overall. We know that isn't the same for everyone. I guess that is the scary part.

Re: Surgery date is fast approaching

I understand your feelings, but this is one time where you have to put yourself first!!!!!!

Your bosses said they would handle it and they will.

This is probably the one time in your life where you will have to walk away and not stress or worry.

It is really sad that this woman has missed her opportunity to step up and be a help to you and to your co worker that is out in September.

Wishing you well for your surgery and a speedy recovery.

Hugs,
Suzanne

Re: Surgery date is fast approaching

I'm starting to get worried about losing my ovaries. I am 52 and turn 53 in Sept. I was fine with my doctor taking them but now I'm having second thoughts. He said that I am on the downside of menopause, which I am but I can't help feeling I should keep them. I'm having surgery due to the endometriosis. I had an ablation about over a year ago and the periods started after 6 months and everything got worse. I saw him after starting yet another period and it still hasn't stopped after 4 weeks! I'm fine with the hysterectomy....why can't I let go of the ovaries? Do I really need to keep them at this point? Anyone out there that is my age and has an opinion on this?

I too am tired of feeling just plain lousy all the time!

Thanks, I'll definitely keep you posted over the next week or two or three ..........

Re: Surgery date is fast approaching

I am 54, turning 55 in October, and am also scheduled for surgery on June 1. I am not having my ovaries removed. Did your doctor let you know why yours are being removed? Perhaps it would help you if you had a bit more information. Although I finished having children a long time ago, I still ache about losing my uterus. Where's the logic???

Re: Surgery date is fast approaching

Well, the girl that's supposed to cover for is coming back...yeah...I am hopefully keeping my ovaries. I went to today to do pre-op with anesthesiologist today and to do my blood work. And now they give you your arm band and have to wear it all the time till after you get out of hospital how much sense does this make....
