LAVH Scheduled June 22

Hello sisters,

I am scheduled for a LAVH on June 22. I am nervous about the procedure. I know that it is the best decision as I have lived in pain for years (20 plus years). I have endomeotrosis, fibroids, cysts and thickeing of the uterine lining. I have always had problems since Aunt Flo visited me at 10 - 1/2 years old. I have been in severe pain for the past year. Aunti Flo decides when she wants to come around and she is not predictable anymore. Since I have endomeotrois that makes it worse for me and the pain is constant.

I am looking for some positive feedback from sisters who had this procedure. I am having a complete hysterectomy incuding the cervix removed. I am worried what it will be like afterwards, how will I feel, is sex going to be different is it going to be better since I am in so much pain now, etc...

I see some of you say it is the best thing you ever did. I have friends and others that have had the procedure done and say they wish they did not wait so long. The best thing.

I want my life back and be able to live the quality of life again with my husband and son.

Thanks for sharing.

LAVH Scheduled June 22

Hi beach. I too had painful very heavy periods for a long tinme(28 years). In July 06 I found out I had Uterine Cancer. I waited til Aug 09 thinking it would just go away on it's own.
I had a LAVH/BSO. Found out I also had PCOS, Adeno, Endo, my Uterus was 9 pounds and the cancer. After some research, thanks Hystersisters, I asked my GP Dr. (My OB surgeon told me not to come back til I needed my yearly pap) to give me estrogin plus progesterone. I am on PremPro and I feel great. Best present I have ever given myself.
Hang in there you will do great!!!
Remember to be your own advocate. Make the Dr's listen.
Pamper the Princess and 1 you only get one chance to heal correctly and 2 the waiting really is the hardest part.
Hugs and prayers.
Carole

Re: LAVH Scheduled June 22

Have you seen an endometriosis specialist? I say that because for endo, the hyst alone will not relieve all the pain, the endo needs to be removed, too. You would need a surgeon skilled in removing it. My hyst was not for endo so I can't help on how that would change, but I had an easy recovery. Sex is different, esp at first seemed different (maybe a lot of overthinking it) but is fine now, esp with some hormonal adjustment. I hope you can find a solution that works for you, keep asking questions.
