Post Op orgasm

I had a hysterectomy three weeks ago and am healing very well...while penetrative sex is out of the question, can I still 'fool around' with my spouse and let myself have an orgasm?

Has anyone else out there tried this and how did it feel?

I'd check with your doc to be sure. I can tell you that even at my 6 wk. check up the doc said I was not ready for sexual relations. However, my husband and I have been able to have some fun in other ways. And, I can assure you that everything works fine for me, which is a big relief.

I was put on complete pelvic rest for at least 6 weeks, and no penetration for 8 weeks. The muscle spasms from a big O might pull on your still healing tissues, plus the increased blood flow of sexual stimulation could cause some issues. After talking to my doc. I'm choosing to wait. I have this one chance to heal and I want to do it right. My hubby is a trooper, but we sure are looking forward to the "all clear" from the doc!!!

Although.... I did have a dream at about 1 week post-op that was very vivid and I woke up in the middle of an orgasm. I panicked at first, but all was ok, no spotting, etc. And now I know that everything down there still works!

I've been able to fool around a little and while nothing major has happened, bleeding ect., I am usually pretty sore the rest of the day or next day do to all the muscle contractions. So just be wary.

If I recall correctly, I started feeling "curious" at about 10 days. At 14 days, I used a vibrator on the outside,of course. And I remember other ladies saying the same thing. "outercourse" at around 2 weeks, just to settle the curiosity, then back to healing. It helped with that "will it still work?" anxiety.

I'm almost at 3 weeks and tried, out of curiosity (and anxiety!) to see if things "worked" and all I can say is "not yet". It didn't feel good at all to even try which makes me worried. I hope I just need more time to heal and all will be well but right now, it feels like my vagina is pushing out when I get half way there and my lower abdomen hurts too.
Guess I'll give it another couple of weeks. Sigh.

It's very important that you call your doctor to ask what you are and are not allowed to do at this point in your recovery. Not everyone heals at the same rate, nor have we all had they same type of hysterectomy. Experiences that others have had may or may not be what you can expect for yourself. Only your doctor can give clearance based on how well your recovery is progressing.

No doubt this is a question your doctor has heard before so there's no need to be embarrassed to call and ask if outer stimulation is okay for you at this point. My doctor's orders were for complete pelvic rest for six weeks. At that point I was cleared at a followup appointment though my husband and I waited for weeks after that until I felt ready.

I used my buzzy friend on the outside and was disappointed with the big O -- I missed the uterine contractions and thus didn't feel satisfied....so I guess it was a "little" O.....

I woke up in the middle of the night having an O. I thought I was going to pass out from the pain. But I was happy that everything still worked. I'm in no hurry to repeat it yet. Maybe in another few weeks.

Hi. I'm 1 week post-op robotic total hysterectomy/ oophorectomy. Yesterday (day 6 post-op) fooled around with my husband with external stimulation and had a totally great orgasm! While this may be TMI I just wanted others to know it was fantastic. Obviously no uterine contractions but who cares? It was awesome...
