Post-op- 10 days bloat after eating

Eating has always been my strong point and to date, I have told people that nothing interfers with my appetite - well something has!

I can eat a small breakfast and morning tea but after lunch (also small) my tummy blows up like a balloon and I fill up with painful wind.

This has been going on for 5 days now - is anyone else experiencing anything like this or have any ideas?

I'm drinking lots of water, so thought that would be helping.....

You are still early post -op and so things are not healed inside, organs removed and possibly air inside from type of surgery.

I have used Gas-X or similar over the counter product. Walking around in the house more will help and don't eat anything that is known to produce gas or bloat.

Be sure to check with your doctor to see what he suggests if you are not getting any relief

Re: Post-op- 10 days bloat after eating

I eat a very small meal for breakfast. I tend to eat a big lunch with a side of GAS-X. Dinner is usually very small if at all. I've noticed that I get bloated and full quick. So I plan to have a big meal earlier in the day. This gives me time to see if I need to use MOM to get some rest. I hope you figure out a plan that works for you.

Re: Post-op- 10 days bloat after eating

Thanks to both SuzyQ23 and Butterfly1857,

I'm feeling better every day now, walking more and more water seems to have eased the bloat somewhat - I am in Australia, so don't have GasX but have other medications that have been helpful.

Thanks again!

Re: Post-op- 10 days bloat after eating

You're really early yet. I am still dealing with gas issues. Have altered my eating habits to smaller meals and avoiding certain foods. Doc says will take time.
