Post Op from DaVinci

I just had my surgery May 28th, so really new to it all. I cannot tell enough people about this site; what a wealth of information!!!
I had the DiVinci op and kept both ovaries... everything else gone due to abnormal cells on my cervix that kept returning after having them biopsied.
I would suggest DiVinci to anyone yet to have a hyster! What a great way to go! Only 4 little incisions and all the pain came from getting rid of the gas they put in you. I HIGHLY suggest walking as much as you can to get that going thru.. and LOTS of water to keep bowels operating and removing the gas. I went into the office (work) for a couple hours 5 days after my op and feeling great considering it is a radical surgery. The gas pain was basically managable by the 7th day and doesn't stop me at all now. And one of the biggest irritations was that I felt like I was sitting on my intestines. That has now subsided by the 8th day or so!
I have found night sweats have become a 'wonderful' addition to my life, but hoping that will subside after my ovaries 'wake up'. My DH has to keep reminding me not to take things too fast. He used to be sweet about it, now he just yells about it (like when he said if I even try to touch the laundry, he will break my arm...joking of course). But with the edgy mood I have, I really have to stop and think before I yell back, knowing he is only trying to help in his own awkward way.
I am really feeling too good right now... I keep waiting for the ball to drop... I know its coming. I don't want to go HRT... too many side effects to worry about, and bio costs too much.
I'll be here for anybody that wants to talk or question... just to throw that out there.
Good luck to all our sisters!

WOW!! I guess you were one of the women that the Dr's were talking about the two week recovery. I am 5 weeks post surgery and I have still not gone back to work!

You are a lucky gal for sure! Count your blessing hun. I had the exact same surgery you did. Kept my ovaries is all...

I am not ready to go back next week...and all I do is sit at my desk!

Re: Post Op from DaVinci

I had a Davinci on the 19th and had everything removed. Totally recovered after 1 1/2 weeks. But 2 days ago I started having a dull throbbing ache in my left side and was having normal BM's and now I'm having trouble there. I have my first post-op checkup tomorrow and will tell him about my pain. It's preventing me from sleeping at all. It's worrisome since I was doing so well. Hopefully it's nothing.

Janel... admit it.. you're just enjoying the time off.
Seriously, what is it that is making you not ready to go back? Are you still in pain?

Re: Post Op from DaVinci

glad you're davinci recovery went so smooth... its not like that for everyone though... it also greatly depends on what was done inside the body... i still had pain and was on pain meds until 3 weeks and have had a slow recovery... my dr has had patients heal quickly and very slowly from the davinci's...
