"Mad Bladder" 4 days post-void cystogram

I had my void cystogram this Wednesday passed. They said I have a large bladder but it's not a problem. When they removed the foley I gushed fluid (a lot) then they stood me up and more came out. The view showed several ounces still there and my bladder was aching. I stood waiting for more to come out but it didn't so they had me sit on the toilet. I passed a bit more but there was still some in there on the view. The cramping got a little worse and the doctor said I have a "mad bladder." (Basically from being foleyed for 12 weeks.

I have no leakage when I cough or sneeze and even though I'm wearing a Depends to sleep just in case I'm dry in the morning. But this "mad bladder" still hurts. I called the surgeon yesterday and she said I should go to the hospital to get cathetered but I just couldn't stand the idea of a visit to the hospital again so soon. She told me to take ibuprofen, the dye pills, and my antispasmotics. I'm voiding well throughout the day, no more, no less than before my hysterectomy but I told her if it changes I'll go to the ER over the weekend.

Has anyone had a "mad bladder" (cramping, some pain) post void cystogram? I'm taking the SOMA which knocks me out BUT I can tell when I have to void and wake up and go.

Just wondering if this is normal for awhile.

Re: "Mad Bladder" 4 days post-void cystogram

Well here is something I learned without a doctor telling me and maybe you all knew it before me lol. IF one happens to have constipation after a void cystogram one WILL have a mad bladder. I've been taking doses of magnesium citrate and after the very first one the pain began to dissipate. I'm already taking softeners and Dulcolax but I guess the MC works best for me. I guess it makes sense that a bladder would be tender and sore if it had stuff pressing on it.

Hope everyone is holding up well!

just curious, why did you have a foley for 12 weeks? I had one for 4 weeks and am self cathing now.

Re: "Mad Bladder" 4 days post-void cystogram

They found my vvf a week post-LAVH, cathed me (I'm latex sensitive so that's always fun). The surgeon wouldn't do the surgery before the 8th week post-op, then cathed for three weeks after. So my bladder wouldn't have to "work." I had to have it changed two times for different visits. The first visit I tripped and fell and ripped the darned thing out full balloon and all OMG! Did I see stars! Luckily it was a Sunday night and my visit was with him the next morning. They did a cystoscopy put a new one in then another new one in post repair. I am SO accident prone I think if I had to try to self-cath I'd make a big mucky mess of my insides lol. I'm just glad I no longer have my "tail."
