Progesterone for Women with Hyst?

I am still in the learning stages of the menopause madness. I always thought that a patch would work good for me, and never knew how other things could throw off your hormones.

My question is whether a woman who has had a hyst after ten years should go on progesterone for worsening symptoms. If one does not have a uterus, but does have ovaries, is it recommended by most doctors that they use Progesterone as well as estrogen?

for those of you that have tried it, what was the down side of it for you?
