Lots of questions

Hi, I am scheduled for June 29th, I am having uterus and a fibroid that is 10 inches long and 6 inches wide removed. Unfortunately my doctor will have to cut from my belly button down, I am most worried about pain and mobility once I get home. My doctor told me I will be having an epederal which I had with both my kids so I know they are wonderful but I am more concerned when the epederal comes out. Has anyone had such a large fibroid? Incision down the middle? Any input would be great :-)

Re: Lots of questions

My sister-in-law had her incision down the middle and used an epidural. She said it is the way to go. She had demerol afterward and didnt have any problems. She said she didnt move well for the first week, but she did get around once she got help getting out of bed/out of a chair.

Re: Lots of questions

I had a vertical incision to remove a uterus the size of a six month preg. I did not have an epidural. The pain was not bad. I was up and moving around the next day. I have not taken any pain meds since leaving the hospital. I'm almost 2 weeks post op and feeling great. I suggest that u get a belly binder. It was a big help. Hope this helps and good luck.

Re: Lots of questions

I had the vertical incision on the 14th but was put to sleep. I have many staples that are staying in for at least another week. I like this incision better than the c section incision b/c for me every bump on the road was not torture. I am 5 days post op and am now walking around the outside of my house 2x a day. My staples are still draining, but dr. says it is normal. I will think of you and good luck!
