Bleeding 4 weeks post-op
I woke up to some bright red vaginal bleeding this morning and I'm totally freaked out. I had my surgery almost 4 weeks ago and have had no problems recovery-wise. Some very light spotting at around the 2nd week, and that stopped.
I went in for an LSH, but at my 2-week follow-up my surgeon said that they took out my cervix too. (Which makes it a... TLH?) I still have my ovaries. If she'd said that my cervix was left in, I wouldn't be panicked, because I'd expect some blood with my period still. I'm not flooding, just heavy spotting. I can't call my doctor for a couple of hours yet. Could this be stitches? Am I panicking for nothing? My activity level has been low to moderate and I can't think of having done anything that would have caused the bleeding.

Re: Bleeding 4 weeks post-op
Sorry I have no good advice, as I'm having the same thing...started at 1.5 weeks and continuing. I'm now 2.5 weeks post-daVinci. I also had my cervix removed. Good luck to you! I hope you get some answers and if you do, PLEASE update. My dr. doesn't even want to see me and says everything I report is "normal." Funny that they didn't mention any of this to me before.

Re: Bleeding 4 weeks post-op
Hi Ladies,
So I'm right at the 2 week mark and having the same thing. According to my doctor, she is not concerned: her theory is that it is likely the dissolving sutures that were used. As they dissolve, the knots tied loosen up a little and since everything is likely not completely healed over it is reasonable to get some blood (anything to older blood to the bright red.) She stressed that it is important to remain on the restricted activities and to continue not to put anything into the vagina. She said that if the bleeding gets to a point where I am having to change a pad every hour because of saturation, THEN to call, but other than that, she said what I am experiencing is very normal. (She also said not to worry if I notice little bits of suture on the pad as that is also normal to pass through from time to time.)
As always, this is my situation and not sure if dissolving sutures are even an element for you, but hopefully this can help calm your anxiety a bit.
Hugs!

Re: Bleeding 4 weeks post-op
OK, phew, I feel a lot better. I'm just back from my doc's office (my GP; couldn't get in to see my surgeon) and she said one of the stitches came out and the blood had clotted, so when the clot came out, lots of blood. She said it had already stopped bleeding by the time she looked at it, so didn't think I'd have any more bleeding BUT if I did I should go to ER for an ultrasound just to make sure there's no internal bleeding. She said to watch out for high fever and abdominal pain, which I haven't had and my fingers are crossed that won't be a problem.
And, because the stitches are obviously working their way out (I had two), she said absolutely NO activity - lifting, walking, anything - for 24 hours until the stitch holes heal over. Darn, I was doing so well. I was up to 45 minutes of walking on Sunday!
Anyhow, I'm relieved it wasn't anything more serious. And thanks, all, for listening!
