Does anyone notice (Fibromyalgia)?

If you have fibromyalgia that it seems to really be bad after surgury. Myne was done 3 weeks ago, my historectomy, but man my fibro has been flaring up bad this week. It hurts so bad I cant hardly move or type without it hurting. Nothing is helping the pain either.

Re: Does anyone notice (Fibromyalgia)?

A hysterectomy, in fact any surgery, trauma or stress, can cause a fibromyalgia flare. Have you contacted the doctor who treats your fibro? Many of us require a slightly different medication regime following surgery to help manage not only the surgical pain but also the fibro issues. Typical pain meds might not be effective for us. Also, our recovery may be longer.

For my last surgery (I was diagnosed with fibro after my hysterectomy), I worked with my neurologist and my surgeon to help keep my pain in somewhat control.

Talk to your doctors about what you are experiencing and ask for some help!

in there!

Re: Does anyone notice (Fibromyalgia)?

I think God is shining his light down on me and only giving me what I can handle. I have rheumatoid arthritis and had to stop my Methotrexate a couple of weeks before surgery. I have been off my meds for 6 weeks now and - taa daa - no flare. My feet or wrists hurt sometimes but absolutely nothing like before. Go figure. If I can avoid Methotrexate I will considering it is so toxic. I hope you are feeling better soon. Hang in there.

Re: Does anyone notice (Fibromyalgia)?

i have chronic fatigue syndrome and its definitely been triggered by my hyst... its unbearable at times because i will have 1-2 good days and then sleep for a week, barely able to function... i'm at 14 weeks now and am frustrated... i'd had my cfs under control and was only needing 1 nap a day prior to surgery... now i feel like i did 10 years ago when i was diagnosed...
