4 years since I had surgery planned

Four years ago I was to have a hysterectomy and ovary removal. Two days before my procedure there was a terrible accident and I wound up taking full responsibility for my best friend - as well as employer - who became a quadriplegic after surfing accident. I never had the surgery. I was completely immersed in getting help for this man. He is now a "walking" quad after 4 years of intense therapy. I have been to a couple of well-respected different doctors since and they don't think I need a hysterectomy. They would like to take out one of my ovaries cuz I have a cyst - the kind of cyst that has hair and teeth. I will be 60 next month.

First, let me say that I'm glad to hear your friend is doing so much better.

I was 52 when I had my hysterectomy. I never wanted to have this surgery and I even cancelled the surgery at one point. Nine months later I knew I couldn't put it off any longer, but if my doctor had said I didn't need it I would have jumped for joy.

Are you comfortable with not having the hysterectomy? Will you have the ovary removed?
