Seroma anyone?

I am so bummed! I was healing perfectly until today. I developed an area of puffiness and redness above and below my incision right in the middle. I went to have the dr check it and she said it's a seroma and she drained it and applied new dressing. I now have to be seen at the wound care dept at the hospital.
Has anyone else had this happen? Is this going to set me back on my recovery?

Re: Seroma anyone?

I did after my current surgery. I had pain around my vertical incision. My doctor sent me to a intervental radiologist. They gave me sedation and drained mine under ultrasound guidence. My GYN sent the fluid off to be tested for infection and everything was fine. I didn't need to see a wound care specialist and so far 12 days later no problems

I couldn't imagine having mine drained without the sedation I had. My hospital viewed it as a surgical procedure and I had to go thru the outpatiet surgery department to have mine done. They told me they could have done it without sedation, but no thanks, I opted for the sedation!

Re: Seroma anyone?

Maybe because it was only an inch or so big? I did hurt like he77, and she didn't even tell me she was going to do it! It was just all of a sudden YOWWWIE.
I go to the wound clinic tomorrow morning and I'm hoping they say it's not so bad...I've read stories on here from women who have had tons of liquid coming out for weeks and weeks, so I am quite freaked out right now!
