UPDATE

Just wanted to let you all know that I did get in to see the GYN today. My doc was not in so I had to see his associate, whom I do not like, but anyway....

Turns out I have a bacterial infection according to her. She gave me some kinda cream I have to use for 5 days. It looks much like Monostat and you use it the same way but it is a different med.

I asked her about my vaginal dryness, low sex drive and all and she just kinda looked at me like I was crazy and said "Well, you are not having hot flashes are you?" I told her no, but that I definately know something is just not right. She said she would draw some labs to see if I was starting into menopause but she didn't really think I was. I told her that I had problems with my progesterone levels being too low on labs before the hyst and had to take hormones back then but she just gave me that look again and said "well that is something altogether different, not related to this". I wanted so badly to scream at her. I know that before when they were off, my sex drive got all messed up and I was trying to say to her that I thought that even if I was not going into menopause that my history of PCO has always made my hormones jump around. Things also got better when I went on Progesterone HRT. You would think with her being a woman she would be more understanding and willing to explore the possibities, but she doesn't give that impression to me. I also asked her about my thyroid and she said "well it was fine in May when we checked it and there is no reason to think surgery could have affected that as it usually doesn't". I tell you, she is a real winner. I just was glad to get my prescription and get the heck outta there. She makes me feel like I am so stupid. I will go on Monday to get the lab work done.

I just can't wait until December when I finally get to see my doctor. Boy am I gonna give him a piece of my mind about all this crap. I love him, he is great. But, when he is not there, dealing with her is just not what I want or need.

Anyway, I hope that I am on the road to relief from the itching and burning at least.

Angie there are some places to get the testing done yourself but you would have to pay out of pocket to get them done I'm sure unless you could get your ins co to pay even though your doc did not prescibe the testing. Just some info to think about. I am so sorry that you were unable to get anywhere with your docs partner. It really is sad that there are women doctors out there that are so closed off to the reality of menopause S

I am having the menopause lab work up

done on Monday. It just took a lot of insisting on my part to get her to agree to it. She acted like she was just ordering it to get me to shut up. As the nurse was writing up the order I said, "Hey, can't they test your testosterone levels to see if you don't have enough when you are having libido problems?" The nurse said "yes" and I said "Well, I want that added on there too." She looked at the doctor and said, "Do you want to order that?" and she said "Yea, add that on too." I could tell she was just humoring me.

SOMETIMES when it comes to HRT or hormonal problems women docs have NO idea unless they have had trouble themselves. They tend to figure that things could never be that bad.
And sometimes they get bombarded because they are women and patients think they will be more sympathetic and understanding. So, they get landed with a lot of the tricky cases. They become hardened and couldn't be bothered. I hope your own doc can help you with this, he sounds like a better bet!
