proper amounts for supplements

so I was reading the list of necessary supplements while on HRT. How do I know how much of each one to take?

Re: proper amounts for supplements

There is a doseage range listed for each of the supplements. Everyone is different, thus I would check with your doctor and see what he/she thinks is the correct doseage for you.

Re: proper amounts for supplements

Not sure how much my doctor knows about supplements. I will ask him when I go in 2 weeks for my 6 week check. I wonder, would starting with a good multivitamin make sense, or is it better to get each of the recommended ones separately?

Re: proper amounts for supplements

IMO if you can get things together its better and less likely to be totally off balance, but you can't really get all the calcium in the same pill as the multivit. Still, that's a MV and cal----I think that's possible sometimes, depending on what your goal dosages are. I'm sure some will disagree but I don't go for 20 supplement bottles as being the necessary way to go. I've also taken "packets" where each days supplements are parcelled out into 4 or 5 caps in a pack, sometimes specific for "women over 50" or whatever. Those have worked out well for ingredients and price comparison. And easier for remembering to actually take them, a plus for me.

K
I think it is better to take everything separately. Many of the multis may have too much or not enough of one or more of the vitamins you need. They may also contain things that you don't need.

I have a seven day pill container that has 4 slots for each day. I divvy up my vitamins and supplements every two weeks. I just open the slot in the morning and evening, grab a glass of water and I am good to go. It is also great for taking on vacation.
