Colpopexy and continued pain

Hello,
I am new to this site and am having trouble figuring out how to post a question to members recovering from hysterectomy by colpopexy. I am 6 months out and still having pain when I sit. I also occasionally have sharp pains that seem to come from the pubic bone down my left leg. Has anyone else experienced problems following colpopexy. Thanks!

Re: Colpopexy and continued pain

Saicol--

I'm sorry you are still having pain and problems. Sacral colpopexy is a procedure done in addition to a hysterectomy. It helps protect against prolapse of the vaginal vault after the uterus is removed. You can find out more by doing a Google Search on the site by going to the blue rectangle at the top right of the page here and typing in 'colpopexy'. You will get a list of posts that have this word in them.

I hope you find the help and information you need.

Thanks so much for the help! I'll log into the site and see if I can figure this out. I think once you get past a certain age, the use of these sites does not come naturally! Thanks again!

Re: Colpopexy and continued pain

Is there anyone out there that is still having pain with sitting and in the tailbone and hip for a year following sacrocopopexy? I read one response where they had the sutures removed that attach the mesh to the sacrum and the person had relief. Anyone know anything about this? I have been into the surgeon a number of times and he continues to tell me that it is not the mesh attachment. I am so unhappy and have been unable to return to my normal activities; riding horses; driving a car comfortably without special paddding, etc. Help!

Re: Colpopexy and continued pain

Have you seen a different doctor to ask about your continued pain? Alot of us seem to end up changing doctors if we have continued problems because it seems that the original doctors either push off our symptoms are don't know how to deal with them. It's not too late to get a second opinion on the matter urogyns are usually the experts in this field so if you could see one of them it might be helpful. Before seeing the new doctor be sure to get all your records from the current on as they ate vital for the new one to know what was done previously and what they used in you as well as notes the doctor has made.
