atrophy ten years after hyst

Sex hurts. Went to the doctor she said atrophy from lack of hormones. Of course we moved nine months ago and I haven't found a good doctor yet. I am still hurting from the exam this afternoon. Any ideas?

Re: atrophy ten years after hyst

Atrophy is the only issue I had after my hysterectomy. At 52 I should be grateful, but it was affecting my sex life with my husband. I can't take hormones and I'm a Type A personality, so I've been attacking this problem with everything I have and it seems to finally be working. I use Replens every evening. I also use a plastic dilator for twenty minutes every morning covered in KY Jelly. Right before sex I use the dilator and KY Jelly as well. I know this kills spontaneity, but after surviving cancer and being a woman in my 50s, I figure I need to just focus on the fact that I am lucky enough to have a patient and loving husband and not worry about annoying obtacles. Anyway, sex hurt and burned up until a few weeks ago when I started this regimen and the last two times we did it I almost fainted from relief that it simply didn't hurt. I don't know if this will work for you, but don't give up. Good luck with your search to find a good GYN...It's so important!

Re: atrophy ten years after hyst

Thanks. I am trying coconut oil right now. I feel better this morning, no soreness. I am doing lots of research too, the doctor said my bladder is dropping and I need surgery. Need to try other things first.
