Is Gas-X a blessing?

I just bought some for my TLH for Sep 1st.

I have had laproscopic procedures before and I know the pain from it but never used it. Has it helped anyone?

Re: Is Gas-X a blessing?

I have seen it suggested here many times, but I can't share a personal experience because I didn't have gas pains or I've never used it. Hopefully, someone who used GasX will stop by and share their story.

Re: Is Gas-X a blessing?

Gas-X may help with intestinal gas, but unfortunately it won't help the pains from the CO2 which is used to inflate the abdomen during laparoscopic surgeries.

Re: Is Gas-X a blessing?

Just to add my thoughts on this subject. As posted above it did help me whatever the origin of the gas was. I didn't get too technical as to where the gas pains were coming from. I just took it and it helped. Shirl

Re: Is Gas-X a blessing?

oh dear god it is! I couldnt have recovered without it! I HAVE to have it whenever i have surgery! Keep it handy. Also keep some antacids handy too because the swelling can put pressure on your stomach.... hope it helps!

Re: Is Gas-X a blessing?

I used Gax-x Cinnamon flavored strips off and on throughout the recovery on both my surgeries. It helps but did not get rid of all the gas pains. I did not have the gassy shoulder pains, but did have the strapped to the table shoulder pains.

Re: Is Gas-X a blessing?

TOTALLY WORTH TAKING!!!

I had an TLH and - because I read about it on this forum - I had stocked up on Gas-Ex beforehand and was I ever glad that I did. It completely helps with the CO2 gas pains.

I took it exactly as it said on the box for the first 3 days (until I had my first BM, I think) and I had minimal problems with gas. I missed one "dose" and could tell that I had missed it within a couple of hours.

Even if it MIGHT help, why wouldn't you take it? Anything to avoid the gas cramps is worth it, to me!
