Just has my surgery - lots of questions...

Well, I made it through the radical hysterectomy. They took everything. I came home from the hospital on Saturday. I'm still feeling pretty bad but wanted to ask a couple of questions. Sorry if I am not making mucy sense.

How long do these bladder spasms last???? I was told that I would start training my bladder this Friday and hopefully I can get the catheter out next week.

I CAN'T SLEEP!!!! Any suggestions????

Hot Flashes. I am taking .9 of Premerin but still having the flashes. Should I discuss this with my doctor?

WILL I EVER FEEL NORMAL AGAIN????

I did get the the preliminary pathology report yesterday and so far they can find no spreading of the cancer (adenocarcinoma). I'm waiting for the final report today and will hopefully check back.

Well, I'm going to go and try to take a shower. The event takes about 1 1/2 hours. This is horrible. I never knew I could feel this bad.

Thanks to all of you out there. I don't know what I would do if I did not have this site to post my thoughts.

Have you tried a heating pad for the spasms? That should help to make things feel better. I know that it is hard to do, but you need to rest and try to relax. Your body heals quicker when you are sleeping and at rest...it will get better. This time next week you will be surprised by how much better you feel! Take care and get your rest!!!

feeling normal again

I asked the same question for the past three weeks since my surgery also radical hysterectomy for adenocarcinoma of the cervix. Today was a really good day for me and i can now say that i think i will feel normal again eventually. So keep good spirits and do alot of sleeping that is what has done the best for me. The bladder thing is hard but if you try to go to the bathroom on a schedule, try like every hoour or so and drink alot of water. This is what one of my doctors told me and mine are getting better.Maybe ask your doctor if there is something for you to help you get some sleep. Jackie

Just has my surgery - lots of questions...

hello, well you are not alone. i never thought i was going to feel good again. i had a complete hysterectomy, plus my bladder had a hug tear in it, from my uterus being wrapped completely around it. i had to come home with the cath for 2 weeks. i developed infection after infection. the pain was never ending. i was a mess. nothing i tried help, i rested, i ate healthy, took vitamins, ect, ect. but, i am happy to say, its been 8 weeks and i am feeling wonderful. woke up and cryed happy tears, because it was just amazing to feel good. so dont give up, you will feel better. so far i havent had any memopause symtoms, well i dont think i have, if so, they werent noticeable. i am on premarin 1.25 and i take a multi vitamin. i had alot of trouble with my bladder, but the stronger i become it seems to get better. i must say its true, rest, rest &rest. let the housework go, believe me it wont go away. i hope i have given you alittle hope. m&M
