constant urge to urinate

I had a hysterectomy about 2 months a ago. My surgery consisted of the removal of my one remaining ovary and my uterus. I also had a rectocele repair.

I am currently experiencing a feeling of irritatin in the vaginal/urethral area. It kind of feels like I constantly have to pee. Has anyone else experienced this? I didn't really feel this way until I resumed my exercise regimine. I felt like I carefully eased back into things by walking and then doing some easy weight lifting. Before my surgery I lifted heavy weight and ran 5 miles as well as doing "boot camp" type workouts. I have put off doing anything crazy like jumping squats, etc.

When this first started I had this really weird anxiey/panic about it feeling like I had messed myself up. I have really had to use a lot of thought replacement and prayer to keep the anxiety at bay.
Thanks for any insight, Paula

Re: constant urge to urinate

I had LAVH almost 5 weeks ago and I feel the same way but I have to strain to urinate. My DR is having a hard time finding whats wrong with me. But my advice to u is call your DR and tell him whats going on. Good luck!

Re: constant urge to urinate

Ladies your bladders have been disturbed during surgery, this is extremely common unfortunately the bladder can take a long time to return to normal, I had surgery 5 months ago and have had weird sensations /frequency/ on and off since, it is only now just starting to calm down, The process is very very gradual, Consultant told me my bladder took a battering during surgery. As long as you regularly check with your doctor for UTI and you are not in pain, just try and be patient. ( ihave been cytoscoped/ultrasounded) all is completely normal. I do not have any burning or pain. I have spoken to ladies who took 9/10/even 12 months for their bladders to settle, it really is a very common effect of hysterectomy.
